The Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) students won multiple awards at the premier conference for the Iron and Steel Industry, AISTech 2017. Awards won by the CIVS team including first place for the 2017 AIST Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award (AIME), the Josef S. Kapitan Award for the second year in a row, First place for the graduate oral presentation in Computer Applications and second place for the undergraduate oral presentation.
AISTech 2017 — Steel’s Premier Technology Event was held at the Music City Center, Nashville, Tenn., May 8 -10, 2017. USA. This event featured technologies from all over the world that help steel producers to compete more effectively in today’s global market.
CIVS at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Indiana, is an interdisciplinary applied research center that combines advanced simulation techniques with 3D visualization and virtual reality technologies to produce innovative solutions in response to industrial and research challenges.
