Dr. Chenn Zhou, Director of the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS), Director of the Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC) and professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University Northwest, was invited to speak at the 3rd European Steel Technology & Application Days (ESTAD), 2017, in Vienna, Austria. The conference took place June 26 – 29, 2017.
Dr. Zhou gave two presentations: “Using numerical simulation and virtual reality visualization for steelmaking applications” and “Modeling of steel bar melting process in an experimental induction furnace”.
The international conference focused on the latest trends and issues and provided international networking and information platform for equipment and service suppliers, plant manufacturers and steelmakers.
During this event, the latest information on new ideas and developments were presented as well as on the state-of-the-art metallurgical process technologies for iron and steel production, steel materials and steel application. The Conference focused on all technical aspects in the main fields of: ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling, steel materials and their application, surface technologies, the environment and energy.
