CIVS welcomed Dr. Jean-Luc Cambier to PNW on March 19. Jean-Luc is the Regional Innovation Officer of The Bloch Quantum, the US Economic Development Administration–designated Tech Hub that is led by the Chicago Quantum Exchange. Jean-Luc started the visit in CIVS to tour and learn more about CIVS/SMSVC roadmap, projects, and impacts. He also had hands-on experience on our Crane simulator at the Visualization Lab.  Discussions were made for future directions and potential collaborations on quantum sensing test bed, multi-physics simulations, and digital twins.

The highlight of the visit included touring the space that will soon be the Roberts Impact Lab with CIVS Director Chenn Zhou, PNW Chancellor’s Fellow Alejandra Castillo, PNW Chief Engagement Officer Matt Wells, PNW Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Niaz Latif, and Purdue Professor of Mechanical Engineering Jun Chen. The space is planned to host PNW’s quantum computing lab in partnership with the Chicago region’s Bloch Tech Hub, a coalition of industry, academic, government and nonprofit stakeholders led by the Chicago Quantum Exchange.
