U.S. Steel Gary Works invited CIVS to their Family Day on August 16 to demonstrate the steel consortium’s latest developments. Rohit Kovvuri (CIVS Research Engineer) and Mario Herrera-Ortega (CIVS Post-Doc Research Associate) showcased the crane simulator. U.S. Steel family members learned about crane controls and got to operate a virtual overhead crane. The event was attended by hundreds of family members. Attendees toured the mill and enjoyed food and activities on site. U.S. Steel is a member company of the SMSVC.
