Record Turnout for PNW CES Students at Joint AIST/AWMI Women in Metal Industry Panel

group of PNW staff and students at March AIST DInnerThank you to AIST and the AIST Midwest Chapter for organizing the epic Women in Metal Industry Panel on March 10, held in partnership with the AWMI Chicago Chapter. With the support of AIST, 49 PNW CES students attended and truly enjoyed the event and were warmly welcomed by more than 300 industry attendees. The panel included five high-achieving women leaders, Tara Carraro, Kara Orszula, Kelly Dallas, Liz Borges and our own Distinguished Professor and CIVS & SMVC Director Chenn Zhou, and was moderated by Ron Ashburn, AIST Executive Director. The moderator, panelists, and audience brought together influential voices in the industry for engaging, insightful, and energetic discussions. Panelists shared their experiences and perspectives on important topics such as mentorship, leadership development, and strategies for recruiting and retaining talent in the metals industry.

The discussion highlighted both the challenges and opportunities panelists have encountered throughout their careers, offering valuable insights for students and industry professionals alike. The evening was a great success, leaving attendees with new connections, valuable views, and inspiration.

The record-high number of PNW student attendees reinforced the importance of discussion topics to the next generation. The event also provided an excellent opportunity for students to connect with industry leaders and become part of the broader professional community.
