SSAB VP Delivers Keynote on Decarbonization at SMSVC Annual Meeting

Mr. Ben Kowing, VP Environment & Sustainability and Chief Technical Officer for SSAB Americas, delivered a dinner keynote speech at the SMSVC Annual Meeting at PNW. His speech, entitled “Steel Innovation and Fossil-Free Steel Production,” covered many key points including why decarbonization is important, how steel innovation saves lives, and how strategic cooperation can lead to fossil-free steelmaking. His inspirational speech was followed by questions and discussions. Many CIVS research teams were in attendance including graduate and undergraduate students. This provided a great opportunity for our students to gain exposure and practical knowledge from industry leaders.
